The Spark Design team is working with Alaska Regional Hospital to convert underutilized patient beds into a six-bed unit for overflow surgical patients. The design features state-of-the-art concepts. Patient rooms feature a separate zone for family, staff, and patients. This arrangement allows staff to check vitals without waking overnight visitors. The entire unit incorporates multiple layers of lighting to further increase patient comfort. Each room incorporates glass doors to maximize staff visibility into patient rooms. The centrally located nurses’ station features point-of-use supplies and an unobstructed view down length of the corridor. Carefully selected finishes enhance the healing process and set the standard for future upgrades and renovations to the thirty year old facility. The design team provided a pricing package within a very short time frame. The quick turnaround of the pricing package and cost estimate allowed the client to secure funding from within their organization. The project is currently moving forward with full construction documents.
